Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 28, 2026

Speechkick LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Speechkick app and website, how we use it, and the choices you have.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name and email address. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive only the information you authorize — typically your name and email.

Child Profile Information

To personalize guidance, you may create profiles for your child or children. This includes the child's first name, date of birth, and developmental stage. This information is provided by you as the parent or guardian — we do not collect information directly from children.

Tracking and Progress Data

The core function of Speechkick is helping you track your child's communication development. We store the gestures, words, phrases, and milestones you record, along with activity logs and any notes you add.

Subscription and Payment Information

Speechkick offers paid subscriptions. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store), Google (Google Play), or Lemon Squeezy for web purchases. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We do store your subscription status, plan type, and renewal dates to manage your access.

Device and Usage Information

We collect standard technical information such as device type, operating system version, and app version to diagnose issues and improve the app. We also collect push notification tokens if you grant notification permissions, used only to send you Speechkick notifications.

Website Analytics

When you visit speechkick.com, we collect anonymized usage data — such as pages visited, session duration, and referring source — to understand how visitors use our website. This is collected via PostHog, an analytics tool, and does not include your name or email address. See Section 3 for more details.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. These include essential cookies required for the site to function (such as session tokens) and analytics cookies placed by PostHog to help us understand how the site is used. You can disable non-essential cookies through your browser settings, though this may affect some site functionality.

Communications

If you contact us by email, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry and improve our support.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide the service — to run the app, sync your data across devices, and personalize guidance based on your child's stage.
  • Manage your subscription — to grant premium access, process renewals, and handle billing events from Apple, Google, or Lemon Squeezy.
  • Send notifications — reminders and updates you've opted into. You can turn these off at any time in your device settings.
  • Improve the product — aggregate, anonymized usage patterns help us understand which features are most helpful.
  • Respond to support requests — to help you when something isn't working.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

3. Third-Party Services

We use a limited set of trusted third-party services to operate Speechkick:

  • Supabase — our backend database and authentication infrastructure, hosted on AWS in the United States.
  • Apple — Sign in with Apple authentication and App Store subscription processing.
  • Google — Google Sign-In authentication and Google Play subscription processing.
  • Expo / Expo Push — push notification delivery for the mobile app.
  • Lemon Squeezy — payment processing for web subscriptions.
  • Resend — transactional email delivery (e.g., password reset emails).
  • PostHog — website analytics. Collects anonymized usage data on speechkick.com. No personal account data is shared with PostHog.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their handling of data. We share only the minimum information required for each service to function.

4. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

Speechkick is designed for use by parents and caregivers, not by children. The app is not directed to children under 13 as defined by the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children do not create accounts, interact with the service, or submit data — all information is entered by the parent or caregiver on their own account.

The child profile data you enter (name, birthday, developmental tracking) is stored on your account and used solely to personalize the guidance Speechkick provides to you. It is not used for advertising, not shared with third parties for any purpose unrelated to the service, and not accessible to anyone other than you.

You must be at least 18 years old to create a Speechkick account. If we become aware that a person under 13 has created an account or submitted personal information directly, we will delete that information and close the account promptly.

If you believe a child has provided us with personal information directly, please contact us at support@speechkick.com and we will delete it promptly.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and child profile data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes (such as subscription transaction records).

6. Your Rights and Choices

Access and Correction

You can view and update your account information and child profiles at any time within the app.

Deletion

You can delete your account from the Profile tab in the app, or by emailing support@speechkick.com. We will delete your account and associated data within 30 days.

Notifications

You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings or within the app under Profile → Notifications.

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@speechkick.com.

European Residents (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing of, and port your personal data. Our legal basis for processing is the performance of a contract (to provide you the service you signed up for) and, where applicable, legitimate interests. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@speechkick.com.

Your data is stored in the United States via Supabase (AWS). When data is transferred from the EEA to the US, it is protected under Standard Contractual Clauses as provided by Supabase's data processing agreements, in compliance with GDPR requirements for international transfers.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS), secure credential storage, and role-based access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or with a notice in the app before the changes take effect. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
